Privacy Policy

This is a courtesy translation. In case of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

This Privacy Policy explains how Adopta Una Vida processes your personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 (LOPDGDD).

1. Data controller

  • Controller: Nacho Bausa Edo
  • Address: Valencia (Spain)
  • Privacy contact: info@adoptaunavida.com

2. What data we process

  • Registration: email address, username and, optionally, name and photo.
  • Profile and content: bio, posts, photos, animal listings, adoption requests and messages you choose to share.
  • Location (optional): country, region, city or coordinates, only if you provide them for nearby or lost/found features.
  • Technical and security: IP address and minimal usage data, to prevent abuse, fraud and animal trafficking.
  • Password: always stored encrypted (bcrypt); never in plain text.

3. Purpose and legal basis

  • Providing the service (account, posts, adoptions): performance of the contract.
  • Security, moderation and preventing animal trafficking: legitimate interest and legal obligations.
  • Service communications (password recovery, adoption notices): performance of the contract.

4. Recipients and data processors

To operate the platform, your data may be processed by trusted providers:

  • Neon (database, hosted in the European Union).
  • Cloudflare R2 (image storage, in the European Union).
  • Vercel (application hosting).
  • Resend (email delivery).
  • Stripe (processing payments for donations to shelters).
  • Groq and Anthropic (artificial intelligence providers, located in the United States). They are used for automated content moderation and the platform assistant: only the text you enter in those features is sent to them (for example, your queries to the assistant or the public content being moderated), without identifying data such as your name or email.
  • Google (sign-in with Google, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications). If you sign in with Google we receive your email address, name and profile picture; for push notifications, a device token is processed so we can deliver the notice to your device.
  • Sentry (error monitoring, hosted in the European Union). When something fails it receives technical diagnostic data — the page URL, browser, device and IP address — so we can detect and fix the problem.

Providers located outside the European Economic Area — in particular Stripe, Groq, Anthropic and Google (United States) — process your data under appropriate safeguards: data processing agreements (DPAs) and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other valid transfer mechanisms.

5. Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete it, the data is erased or anonymized, except for what we must keep by legal obligation or to handle claims.

6. Your rights

You may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability. From your Settings you can download your data and delete your account at any time, or write to us at info@adoptaunavida.com. If you believe we have not handled your request, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).

7. Minors

The service is not directed at children under 14. By registering you confirm that you are at least 14 years old.
